The Director-General (DG) of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Chikwe Ihekweazu has reacted to the criticism the agency has faced in the last few days over the way they've been handling the coronavirus pandemic.
In a tweet addressed to Nigerians, Chikwe stated that criticism distracts them from critical work. He further told Nigerians to be patient and help them pull things together.
He tweeted;
We’re extremely busy. Our call handlers are taking hundreds of calls every day, 24/7 including weekends, from across Nigeria Please be patient with us & help us by pulling together. The criticism distracts us from critical work We are trying VERY hard to meet all urgent needs

This is coming after an aggrieved Nigerian man whose friend became the third person to test positive for coronavirus in Nigeria, called out the agency for stating that his friend is receiving medical care when nothing has been about her condition.
