Journalists have been barred from covering the resumed hearing of the 13-count charge false asset declaration case against Senate President Bukola Saraki happening today October 21st. Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar, gave instructions to security personnel at the court to ensure that no camera is allowed into the court. Saraki is expected to be present at the hearing which is to commence by 10am.

During his screening at the senate yesterday, Ministerial nominee, Adebayo Shittu from Oyo state, said he will not like to comment much on Boko Haram and their activities because he still has a family to cater for. According to him, the sect members have in time past killed anyone who spoke openly against them and so he wanted to be careful.

A teenage girl in Canada had an unusual food allergy that showed up only after she exercised, according to a new report of her case. The 17-year-old's allergy first appeared when she had a small snack — a few rice crackers and hummus - right before she worked out on a treadmill at her home.

She ran for just 10 minutes before her lips started to swell. She stopped running, but her symptoms became severe, and she developed the puffy eyes, hives, itching and abdominal pain that occur in the body-wide allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis.

The girl was taken to the emergency room and treated with Benadryl and epinephrine, and she recovered about 3 hours later, the report said.

A man of God has been nabbed fore robbing a
widow during her husband’s funeral.

Overseer of City of Reality Christian Centre, located at Ediene Ikot Obio Imo in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has been arrested after he was manipulated in robbing a woman whose husband had just been buried, of cash amounting to over N600,000, two cell phones, a cheque book and ATM card belonging to the deceased, and a briefcase containing the late deceased documents, which was handed over to the
woman’s son for safe keeping..

OPC Condemns Killing Of 10 DSS Operatives By Pipeline Vandals

The Director of Media and Publicity of Oodua People’s Congress, (OPC) led by Otunba Gani Adams, Barrister Yinka Oguntimehin, has condemned the gruesome killing of 10 members of State Security Operatives by pipeline vandals in Isawo, Ikorodu , Lagos state.

Oguntimehin in a release made available to the media in Lagos on Thursday described the action of the vandals as “highly condemnable” and “brazen in its criminality which is injurious to the national psyche only perpetrated by sub – human beings who are not fit to live.”

He lamented that, “it is sad that some miscreants who are being financed by a sinisterly powerful and deadly oil mafia have put paid to the lives and brilliant carriers of 10 wondrous well trained members of the Department of State Security Services.”

Former Akwa Ibom state governor Godswill Akpabio, who is currently in the UK to get treatment after surviving a car crash in Abuja on August 31st, suffered embarrassment at Mandarin Oriental Hotel, a luxury five-star hotel in the Knightsbridge area of London after his credit card was declined while he attempted to check into the hotel.

UNICAL law student accuses dean of sexual assault

The Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Prof. Cyril Ndifon, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old 400-level law student (name withheld) .

The mother of the victim, Mrs. Irene Akpan (not her real name), who is resident in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, told our correspondent on Monday the incident happened between 3 and 5pm on August 29 at the dean’s private office in the faculty building.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has recovered and returned the sum of 10, 540 Euros to a polish victim of Internet love scam.

A statement from EFCC says the victim, simply identified as Jamina, was allegedly duped 40,000 Euros by a Benin based internet fraudster identified as Gabriel Oseremen Xavi who operates a fake Facebook account with the name, Collins Page.

The suspect was traced to Benin, Edo State, where he was arrested by EFCC operatives following a petition by the victim.

Speaking during the presentation of the sum of 10,540 Euro recovered from the suspected Internet fraudster at the Belgium Embassy, Abuja yesterday September 2nd, EFCC Chairman, Lamorde, charged Western diplomats to sensitize their citizens against Internet love scam.

He also urged them to focus more on lonely elderly people who have been found to be easy prey, added that

“All the assets acquired by the suspect from the proceeds of the crime will be disposed off at the conclusion of trail, and the money returned to the victim.”

The high point of the occasion was the presentation of the money to the Belgian Ambassador, Mr. Stephane De Loecker and his Polish counterpart, Mr. Andrzej Dycha, by Lamorde Expressing his gratitude, the Belgian Ambassador, De Loecker, thanked the Nigerian government as well as the EFCC for what he described as ‘its commitment to curbing Internet scams.’’

He remarked that it was his first time of witnessing the restitution of a victim of scam by any law enforcement agency and urged the EFCC not to rest on her oars.

The envoy assured that the Belgian government would carry out rigorous campaigns to sensitize its citizens on the dangers of love scam.

Female Student Of MAPOLY Caught With Gun

A female student of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Miss Oreoluwa Adedamola, has been arrested by the men of the Ogun State Anti-Robbery Squad, for being in possession of a gun.

The 20-year-old lady, who claimed to be an OND 2 Mass Communication student, was arrested on August 29 at Ifo, around 11.45pm, while travelling in a mini-truck with one Sikiru Kelani.

Miley’s not No 1

It might come as little surprise to discover that British parents have voted Miley Cyrus as the female celebrity they would least like as a role model for their children. In a poll of 2,287 parents with at least one child under 10, 78% voted Cyrus the worst example, followed by Nicki Minaj and Kim Kardashian. Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cambridge – who has, of course, made a career out of marrying a very famous and wealthy man – was ranked the best female role model for their kids. Would Cyrus, an inspiration to plenty of young women navigating their adolescence, sexuality and body hair, care? Probably not.

The 22-year-old, dubbed this week by the New York Times as “a performing tongue with a woman attached” is prepping to host the MTV Video Music Awards this weekend. In an interview with that newspaper, Cyrus was asked about the “the Nicki Minaj controversy” and replied:
