EBOLA: KwaraPoly To Scan Students and Lecturers

According to a report by punch both staffs and students of Kwarapoly will be screened of the deadly Ebola virus.
The Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Alhaji Mas’ud Elelu, has said that the institution will screen its fresh and returning students for the Ebola Virus Disease during resumption for the 2014/2015 academic session.

Elelu said that staff of the institution would also be screened for Ebola.
The Rector said the institution had set up a committee to liaise with the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital on the modalities for bringing in some screening equipment before the students would resume.
He spoke on Sunday to journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, during the institution’s sensitisation training for its staff on the control and management of EVD.
According to him, the polytechnic will embark on more sensitisation programmes and other Ebola preventive measures to stop the spread of the disease to the institution.
He said, “When the students come, we will screen them and also give them proper lecture on the Ebola virus. We have proper plan to screen all students, and the staff as soon as we get the equipment. And if we cannot lay our hands on the equipment, we can hire from those that have the screening equipment.
“Though the Federal Government has assured us of safety on the issue of Ebola virus, we still believe prevention is better than cure. On our own, we decided to bring all information about the deadly diseases closer to our staff and our community in order to prevent ourselves from contacting it.”
A UITH Consultant, Dr. Abayomi Fadeyi, earlier in his lecture, described Ebola as the deadliest among the viral hemorrhagic fevers, saying it had no cure yet
