Men’s Health: Stay Naked And Be Rest Assured Of A Healthy Life, Lifestyle

A research conducted by the University of Virginia showed the immense advantage that lies in sleeping naked.

The study found that people who slept without any form of clothing on had better sleep patterns than those who slept with any form of clothing.

This is even more so for men because we tend to require good blood flow to all parts of our body in order to maintain fitness and good health.

Here are five reasons you may want to reconsider how you sleep and go naked.

You’ll sleep better

Taking off your clothes before hitting the sack will definitely make you sleep better according to Men’s Health sleep advisor W. Christopher Winter, M.D. He says that the body temperature of men declines sharply the minute you doze off, and it ascends the moment you’re about to wake up.

However, clothing can be a source of interference with natural fluctuations like this. Clothes provide extra insulation which can make you a little hotter as your temperature drops. This may make you uncomfortable with you tossing and turning in bed.

As a result, you may wake up sweaty in the middle of the night. You may want to consider letting go of your pyjamas to allow your body temperature flow in an uninterrupted manner.

You’ll Have Better Metabolism

Maintaining a cool body temperature throughout the night may help you have better body metabolism according to a 2014 study in the journal Diabetes. Researchers found out in a study that when people slept in a cold and chilly room, the chances of them producing double the volume of normal brown fat was higher.

Brown fat is a healthy fat usually stored in the neck and it helps to burn calories and as such, generates body heat when you sleep in a cold room as opposed to when you sleep in a warmer room. By sleeping naked, you can keep your body temperature lower which can produce the same effect according to the lead author of the study Francesco S. Celi, M.D. You’ll protect your testicles

You’ll Prevent Infection

According to Brian Steixner, M.D., a urologist, sleeping in your underwear increases the chances of getting an infection in the worst possible place on your body. Boxers and briefs keep heat and moisture in. Bacteria thrives in warm, moist environments which puts you at a high risk.

High levels of bacteria increases the likelihood that any broken, chaffed or irritated skin down there will become infected. As such, skip your underwear and keep your testicles cleaner, drier, and healthier.

You’ll Nurture Your Sperm

It is important that your scrotum maintains the right temperature in order to optimize sperm production. The ideal temperature is between 20-30 degrees Celsius which is slightly cooler than the temperature of the rest of your body. When the temperature around your testicles are a little too warm for comfort, the quality of your sperm diminishes according to a study conducted in Finland which tested the semen of men who used saunas and hot bath tubs.

The study also found out that tight underwear can raise the temperature of your scrotum above the optimum level. So, for the sake of your future children, consider going naked.

You’ll Get Closer To Your Husband/Wife

Having a Skin-on-skin contact with your partner helps to trigger the release of the hormone oxytocin in your brain, according to Swedish researchers. Oxytocin helps to reduce stress and helps strengthen the connection between you and your partner by increasing sex drive.

And obviously, brushing up against your partner naked in bed would most times lead to good things.
