A national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has urged Nigerians to emulate the people of Osun State who voted against the Peoples Democratic Party during the August 9, 2014 governorship poll in the state.

Buhari said this in Osogbo on Monday during a courtesy visit to Governor Rauf Aregbesola at the Government House.
The former Head of State said that the governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun State should be an eye-opener for Nigerians ahead of the 2015 elections.
While congratulating Aregbesola, Buhari said that his re-election was a triumph of democracy and the wish of the majority.
According to him, the people of the state knew what is good for them and they resisted the opposition by voting for Aregbesola massively.
The APC leader said that he was in the state to invite the governor to his formal declaration for the presidential race.
He said, “Part of why we are here is to congratulate you on your credible re-election and personal leadership qualities.
“Ekiti and Osun gave us the latest interpretation of what is ahead of us in 2015 and all Nigerians must be totally aware that it is not going to be very easy in the next five months.
“For the next five months, we are on the road again and we are here to ask for your understanding and support. Nigerians want change and they have to prepare and be ready to do exactly what Osun people have done, that’s the only way out.”
Responding, Aregbesola thanked the retired general for his visit.
He also advised Nigerians to be vigilant ahead of the general election coming up in 2015.
The governor said that he mobilised the people of the state to come out en mass and vote for the APC.
He said, “Nigerians should be vigilant in 2015 just like they did in Osun during the August 9 election when 73, 000 security men deployed to the state could not scare them away from exercising their franchise.”
In a similar development, Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankaso, has also visited Aregbesola
